Monday’s Musings

I’ve decided that each Monday I’m going to reflect on the recent past- the weekend probably- and report it here. The reason is, while I am grateful for what I have, I feel like this will help me to sit and think about all that I have in my life. The way my brain is wired, it’s very easy for me to wake up and think negative thoughts- primarily about myself- and I think that sitting for a bit and writing about all the good things will help me.

This weekend was full of friend and family time. Friday night we went to AJ’s school Gala where we helped the school raise over $20k! It was super fun. We hung out with people we know from the school, but got to spend more time getting to know them. And we also played black jack and craps, so that was awesome! Always fun to play with fake money!

Saturday it snowed like crazy and we lounged around the house all day doing pretty much nothing. I’m not that good at doing nothing- however, I’m getting better at it. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I did go to Orange Theory that morning and burned close to 600 calories! I love when that happens. It made it a little easier to do nothing the rest of the day.

Then, Saturday night we went to hang out with some of our best friends. The kids were all there and it was just a fun time catching up, having dinner and drinks (probably too many?). There MAY have been a little whiskey too… but I can’t remember.

Reflecting back, I am just so thankful for my friends. I told them about this blog and they were incredibly supportive. It’s a great feeling to know that these ladies will be there for me (and have been there for me) when I need them. They all have great kids that I love and I love having AJ around. I am grateful for my family and friends and know how lucky I am to have them. With all that is going on in this world, it’s easy to take them for granted. It’s so important to just sit for a moment and think about how fortunate I am.

I so enjoyed your reflection, and you are so right about all the good things we have in life. We all need to take a moment in time, and appreciate what God had given us, family, special friends, health and great wine 🍷

    My dearest Kate,
I know how your brain works, but sweet friend you are amazing in many ways. I found this quote that I wanted to share:

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.”

I am personally going through a time of change and growth so I recognize your need for an outlet to capture reflection. This blog is a brilliant and I look forward to reading your words. I may be inspired to start a journal now!

    Much strength and fun,
